Gallery Genesis presents an online space for art lovers to meet with artists who persevere in working, exploring, and gathering inspiration for their artmaking. Though seeing works in the flesh has been temporarily relocated to a digital screen, Gallery Genesis continues to build bridges and draw connections amongst the art community and its patrons.
Art Over Coffee presents an intimate and personal way of connecting with both seasoned and emerging artists who are both embarking on the journeys of addressing these transformative times, and their stories along the way. At the end of the day, there’s always a way to make time for a profound conversation about art, life, and everything in between.
Bring your own cup of coffee. The conversation’s on us.
In celebration of female artists during International Women’s Month, Art Over Coffee is hosting three artists with remarkable journeys in the historically male-dominated field of art: Margarita “Marge” Lim, Bea Policarpio, and Bianca Luztre. Get to know their story by joining us on March 20, 2021.
Meet Bea Policarpio
Bea is a Filipina artist who spills colors where words fail. With heavy-handed impasto strokes deftly applied, Policarpio’s art often represents dreamlike mindscapes painted in desire to give shape to the subconscious. To make the intangible, tangible.
In her abstract expressionist style, the emerging artist aspires to create visual objects that draw viewers into an evolving story about human nature and its place in the cosmos. Discovering imagination as a function of empathy, she paints with a delicate balance of buoyancy and depth that has fascinated audiences
Meet Margarita Lim
Marge’s paintings are rich with a certain sentiment of fortuitousness: in the composition of objects, the interplay of light and shadow, and the right moment in which a ray of sun can strike a surface. In “Ribbon” and her paintings of flowers, it’s fascinating how Lim chooses to hone in on specific details without portraying the entire object. This nuanced framing, a metaphorical magnifying glass, highlights the exquisite qualities that otherwise goes unnoticed.
Meet Bianca Luztre
I’m Bianca, an aspiring watercolor artist from the Philippines who loves to teach. I have been painting with watercolors for 2.5 years and made it a habit and commitment to myself to paint every single day.
Since I love to teach I started offering watercolor workshops since the start of quarantine in 2020 – equipped with the knowledge I gained from experience and studying the medium. Hoping to reach out to those who need to relieve their anxiety, destress or discover a new passion. I have decided to join international exhibits and competitions to further improve my painting skills and challenge myself.
