Culture is not only constituted by artifacts and official documents but in ethnoscapes as well. These are the stories of people situated in particular environments, specificities of language, systems of meaning, and symbols that are equally shared in love. This Valentine’s Day Season, Gallery Genesis presents a beautifully curated collection that are transmitted in visuality itself, across routes and regions. Through the materiality of form, the various artists’ insights are imagined in different vantage points and trajectories of the gaze. Some are rendered in imaginative poses while some are restrained to allow spaces and objects to be privileged by the eye. This collection presents ethnographic snapshots of a vanishing world filled with all kinds of love. Instead of a rejection of the past, continuing traditions become defiance in itself. The local asserts itself in a post-industrialist world, where it becomes necessary to materialize the narratives of the people. (Boquiren, 2013) With over 50 beautiful curated artworks, celebrate love in all its form with us in Nostalgic Ethnoscapes.
